Press releases Four Falun red Linde E80 electric trucks arrived at Frøslev Træ in Padborg earlier this year. The South Jutland company did not waste any time and put the new forklifts to work immediately. It needs to move timber products at a high pace and ship over 100,000 m3 of wood in and out of the company annually.

“We rely on skilled employees, good IT systems and a well-functioning truck fleet. We handle a large number of lorries at the site and have a lot of internal driving between departments. It takes place outdoors in all kinds of weather and on different surfaces. So the trucks need to be extremely robust,” says Production Manager Jørgen Krenzen Johansen from Frøslev Træ.

Frøslev Træ is the country's largest stockist of timber products. The total area in Padborg is 220,000 m2 and spans storage areas, driving areas and production facilities for planing, sanding, painting and impregnating wood. The latter is an environmentally friendly alternative to pressure impregnated timber.

“We work with certified, environmentally friendly and sustainable wood from Northern European forests. We have a cradle-to-grave mindset where we select, process and transport the wood in an environmentally friendly manner. Wood is the world's only renewable building material where felled trees can be replaced by new plantations with responsible forest management. That's why it's such a privilege to work with wood,” Jørgen Krenzen Johansen emphasises.

Innovation and sustainability

Sustainability makes good sense at Frøslev Træ, which works innovatively to refine over 12,000 product numbers. This is done in part by impregnating the wood with silicate, thermo-treating the wood, developing acoustic solutions, working creatively with architects and finding new logistic approaches generally.

“We work with innovation in practice. We deliver a quality product and look forward to the many applications our wood can be used in. We see an increasing interest in using certified wood in construction projects. We like to be challenged if, for example, special profiles need to be constructed, major renovations need to be made or a modern façade cladding needs to be created," says Jørgen Krenzen Johansen.

From hybrid truck to pure electric

Frøslev Træ wanted to replace its hybrid trucks with electric models. So it searched the market for an electric truck solution with high uptime, driver comfort and high lifting capacity. Battery changes had to be optimised to increase runtime. N.C. Nielsen entered the bidding process and presented a solution with four Linde E80 electric forklifts with relevant optional equipment, a full service package and permanent shift cam. The winning bid was N.C. Nielsen's.

“We are new customers at N.C. Nielsen. We got a good first impression and experienced professionalism across the board. We’ve had many requests for our new Linde electric truck, which is the backbone of our internal logistics. We have evaluated the solution on many parameters and in particular I would like to emphasise the level of commitment from the people we have met at N.C. Nielsen,” says Jørgen Krenzen Johansen.

Next level high-tech

The Linde E80 models are rolling offices with an elevated view of the work site. The driver has access to a scanner, tablet and printer inside the cabin and the ‘office chair’ is in a class of its own. The high-tech setup makes the truck an attractive workplace and matches the fast turnaround time on-site and the service that Frøslev Træ offers its customers.

“N.C. Nielsen is committed to high service quality and a close dialogue. They have been great sparring partners in the selection process and we got to know each other well before we started working together. For example, I can mention that both their regional manager and service engineer were down here the day before the actual delivery of the forklifts to ensure everything was in order,” notes Jørgen Krenzen Johansen from Frøslev Træ.
