Case The Swedish sawmill Moelven Edanesången AB in Edane aims to work with sustainability in practice and to reduce emissions from their machine fleet. For this reason, the sawmill received its first electric Konecranes E-VER forklift truck. This robust forklift truck, which runs on Lithium-ION batteries, now contributes towards the optimisation of the internal transport of raw materials, equipment and products.

Since 1899, Moelve Group has been producing sustainable construction materials and systems in Norway and Sweden for the construction industry all over the world. The sawmill in Edane is one of the largest facilities in the Group. As part of its activities, Moelven uses the forklift truck to move large quantities of raw materials, materials and processed wood products for all kinds of constructions.

For many years, Konecranes has been Moelven’s preferred machine brand since these forklift trucks offer great efficiency, safety and flexibility during a busy workday. At the Edane sawmill, Moelven wants to expand its fleet of forklift trucks so as to further increase its capacity, and the company is focused on achieving environmental friendly, quiet and emission-free vehicle operation.

“Moelven is pleased with the new Konecranes E-VER electric forklift truck since its battery technology and zero-emissions are a perfect match with their sustainability goals. In addition, its high quality, durability and optimised operation exemplifies a long-term commitment to the environment,” says to District Manager Håkan Lorén from N.C. Nielsen in Sweden.

The new Konecranes has a lifting capacity of 13,600 kg with a fully electric driveline, regenerating brakes and, last but not least, energy-efficient Lithium-ION batteries for the truck’s two engines. The batteries save time since they only take 45 minutes to charge fully. The battery solution comes with a battery management system (BMS), which ensures that the power source is optimised for maximum performance and safety in any condition.

“Moelven purchased its first Konecranes in the 1990s. With the new Konecranes E-VER forklift truck, the company now has 34 Konecranes forklift trucks across all its Scandinavian operations. N.C. Nielsen has played a critical role in this regard and has always provided excellent support. We are proud that Moelven is ready to experience our next generation of forklift trucks,” says Sales Director Daniel Sjöstrand from Konecranes Lift Trucks.

Last but not least: Moelve has customised the electric Konecranes E-VER forklift truck with a wide variety of optional equipment and adjustments to handle the challenging working environment at the sawmill. The OPTIMA cabin, with its unobstructed view and comfort, mini-wheel steering, air-cushioned driver’s seat, mudflaps, fork levelling, external lights and central lubrication contribute to improve job satisfaction as well as productivity.
