Etex Nordic is part of the international Etex Group, which manufactures fibre cement façade systems. At Etex, safety is always the first priority. This is evident everywhere in the Group's central warehouse in North Jutland, where visual markings, PPE, truck fleets and hi-vis safety equipment for employees clearly illustrate the highest safety level imaginable.
"We take a very firm stance towards safety at Etex. Strict safety requirements come to us from the central team, which are implemented across all the Group's branches. We have built up an excellent safety culture and this contributes heavily towards a well-functioning working environment, where everyone watches out for each other," says Alex Gotthardsen, Warehouse Manager at Etex Nordic.
The Etex Group wants to exercise full control over its supply chain. A handful of lorries arrive daily from the central warehouse in Rødekro with the Group's own products, which are manufactured at its European plants. They are brought to the warehouse by drivers who are well-versed in the Group's stringent safety requirements, and both the delivery of incoming products and collection for builder's merchants is carried out completely by the book.
"We have a fairly constant stream of products moving through our warehouse. While these are not complex or 'hazardous' products, it does involve relatively heavy loads of custom pallets that must be handled with great precision by our employees. Even with these standard jobs we are highly concerned with safety and ensuring that all rules are followed to the letter," Alex Gotthardsen points out.
The choice of the new Linde electric truck from N.C. Nielsen is in keeping with the high standards of the Etex Group, where Linde is the preferred brand. Etex Nordic needed to renew its truck fleet last summer, and Linde was in the picture as one of several candidates. Etex had prepared a lengthy wishlist for their future machines, where safety was once again in focus.
The five scaled-down Linde E35L/387 electric trucks are thoroughly tested for safety, on top of which Etex has added a comprehensive safety package. All Linde electric trucks are coupled up to the fleet control Linde Connect, equipped with visual safety in the form of blitz lighting, Linde BlueSpot and Linde Warning Lines as well as Linde Speed Assist, which regulates the travel speed of outward and inward-bound driving.
A bright orange seat belt is mounted on all the Linde trucks, which must be positioned correctly before the truck can be started. A reversing camera allows the operator to keep a constant eye on what is going on behind the truck, while the Linde Safety Guard system warns both the operator and anyone walking in the area via a sensor with sound, lights and vibrations, when they get close to each other.
"We've had an extremely positive dialogue with Etex Nordic, which deserves a pat on the back for taking safety so seriously. They've gone all-in on safety and have wanted a very comprehensive safety package, where the different elements support each other. Based on the latest Linde technology, we have been able to deliver a state-of-the-art safety solution for Etex Nordic," says Lars Holm Hansen, Key Account Manager at N.C. Nielsen.
